Membrane for cracked tile replacement?

Q: Hello, I have a problem with a few cracked ceramic tiles in an entryway. The tiles have cracked due to cracks (mostly hairline) in the concrete foundation. I have heard of some kind of membrane material that can be used when such cracked tiles are replaced; the membrane is supposed to isolate replacement tile from further cracking in the foundation, at least up to a point. Can you give me any further information about such membrane material? Thank you!

A: Yes, there are such membranes that do an excellent job. Schulter Detra and Noble Seal are a couple of name brands. You should be able to purchase these types of membranes at most tile supply stores.
