Marble and granite can certainly be mixed in various patterns on a floor. Different finishes, such as honed and polished, can also be mixed. While these combinations can be very attractive, their maintenance and eventual restoration must also be considered. They can prove difficult to restore, and will be much more expensive to repair should that be required.

TIP For the professional: To hone a marble/granite combination it is best to tape the granite off with duct tape. If you use resin bond diamonds they will glide right over the tape. If the granite also needs honing, treat the entire floor as if it is granite
