Help! My ceramic tile floor has lost its glaze. Is there a process available to restore the glaze, or do I have to replace the floor?

At this time there is no process that can fully restore the glaze to a ceramic tile floor. The glaze on ceramic tile is achieved by baking the tile at very high temperatures which cannot be achieved after installation. There are, however, a number of coatings and polishing processes that can improve the shine and thereby delay replacement of the tile. Contact your local tile store or tile contractor for further information.

TIP For the professional- You may want to attempt to use the recrystallization process on ceramic. You may find you can obtain somewhat of a gloss. As always make sure to test first in a small area.
