I tried to hone a marble floor and after the 600 grit I keep getting stray scratches. Where are these scratches coming from?

There are several reasons you may be getting stray scratching check the following: Do the grout joints contain sanded grout? If the grout joint is wider than 1/4 inch, the chances are you have sanded grout. If you do, then the grout is becoming dislodged and causing the stray scratching. If this is the case you will need to remove the grout with a grout saw, hone and polish the floor and replace the grout. Another cause may be sand or stray grit on the floor. Be sure to check for sand and grit by running your hand across the floor. If you feel course grit then that’s your reason. Rinse the floor several times and pick up with a wet vacuum. Avoid leaving the floor until you are done., if you run outside to the truck, you take the chance of tracking sand and grit onto the floor. Also, check to make sure your diamonds are not rough on the edges, see question #4 above.
