What To Do About Color Variation In Marble Tiles

Q. Hi, we have a penny marble tile backsplash in our new house. In the splash back there is quite a noticeable variation where four lighter sheets of penny marble have been installed. We are aware that best solution would be to remove the tiles and replace with darker ones, however we are worried this will cause too much damage to the plaster behind the tiles. I am just wanting to know if there is any way to possibly put some darker shades through the lighter section so it is not so noticeable.

A. There are color enhancers for natural stone, but unfortunately they don't work very well on marble, due to its high density, and the results can be spotty. We suggest replacement of light tiles with darker ones.
