Can I wax my quarry tile floor? It is outdoors and is exposed to bright sun and rainy weather.

First you need to determine why you want it waxed. Do you want to add shine, or is your intention to protect it? If protection is your main concern, I would recommend applying a silicone impregnator over a wax. If you want to increase the shine, you need to choose a wax designed to withstand UV light.

TIP Most quarry tile has a rough finish and placing any type of wax coating on it will only increase the maintenance required. There are however several manufacturers that produce a coating specially designed for quarry tile. Check with your local tile shop or several of the vendors in the resource directory at the end of this book.
