My honed black granite looks streaky, ( from sealer application). How do I remove the sealer or do I need to re-sand the stone?
Q. My honed black granite looks streaky, (from sealer application). How do I remove the sealer or do I need to re-sand the stone?
A. You may have to call in a stone restoration professional on this. But first try this: Pour some acetone (the kind you get in a hardware store, not fingernail polish remover) on a white rag and try wiping it down. If that does not work for you try something a little stronger, like furniture stripper (with MEK). Don't go right to the MEK first, it is harsh stuff. Be sure to use all safety precautions. See our free, downloadable Stone and Tile Care Guide for more information.
