Can I skip a grit when honing granite, and if I do will this affect the final polish?

Do not skip any grits when honing granite. This is extremely important since the honing and polishing of granite relies on smoothing the stone. Each and every step is important and should not be skipped. If you do skip a step you may not achieve an acceptable finish.

TIP When restoring granite flooring it will be necessary to start with a least a 60 grit. Granite, unlike marble, cannot be simply lightly honed and then polished.
