What Product We Recommend To Clean Natural Stone

Q. Hello. I have just built a new home. I have Crema Alara Marble in the kitchen and foyer floors, slate in my mudroom and travertine in my bathrooms. All have been professionally sealed. I do not use any chemical cleaners. Is water and a microfiber drying pad OK? Is there anything else I should do to maintain it? If there was any cleaner that you would recommend what would it be? I have soft water. We have been vacuuming the stone for weeks and this week we're going to use a microfiber mop on it.

A. I am glad you are concerned with the care of your stone. Water and a microfiber cloth certainly won't hurt your stone. However, using just water to clean it is not a good long-term plan since it will not effectively remove soiling, grease, etc. You need to add a good, stone-safe neutral stone cleaner to your water for the best results.
